Canadian online gamblers were recently thrilled to hear that the government of the province of Manitoba will be offering legalized online casino games and sports betting options to local players.
Manitoba is the third province in Canada to offer legal online gambling. The other two provinces are British Columbia and Quebec.
All Manitobans who are over the age of 18 years will be welcome at the new PlayNow.com site, which is based on the British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s gaming platform.
PlayNow.com will offer poker, sports betting and casino games which include slots. The new online gambling site intends offering online lotteries and bingo later this year.
Winston Hodgins, President and Chief Executive of Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries, said that they are pleased to be offering Manitobans a reputable and safe online gambling option. Hodgins added that players at PlayNow.com can be secure in the substantial safety and security measures that have been put in so as to protect their personal information, their deposits and their bets.
Manitoba’s expanded gambling option to the world of internet is bound to have a huge positive effect for the province.
According to the government, they will be reinvesting the revenues into local communities with fifteen percent thereof to be directed to support provincial programming for Aboriginal sport and recreation. The balance of the revenue will support areas which include education, social services, healthcare and economic development. Three percent of the net income would also be directed to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba and two percent to the province’s Responsible Gambling initiatives.
